Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSOs)

Meet our Junior Road Safety Officers (JRSOs)

Junior Road Safety Officers help promote safety issues at our schools and through our local community.

Being a JRSO is an important job but also really good fun.

We have a noticeboard in school so you can stay informed of what we are doing each term and there is also news of any competitions and events we are running.

Here are some of our responsibilities:

  • Talk at assemblies and to classes on road safety topics
  • Run competitions in the school, get prizes for the winners and hand out merit certificates
  • Use the www.jrso.com website
  • Use the members area of this website
  • Write letters
  • Employ next year’s JRSOs by displaying the advert, handing out application forms and sitting on the interview panel
  • Get involved in organising safe and active travel activities.
  • Write in the school newsletter
  • Making sure parents park their cars sensibly outside and around school especially during pick up and drop off times.
  • Promoting Park and Stride by using the car park at IBM.

Here are some of our annual events:

October: Be Bright, be seen Day

November: Brake Road Safety Week

June: CAPT week

Every Week: Walk Once a Week (WOW)
